i am a graduate student at the university of washington in the masters in urban design and planning program (i just received my master of architecture this summer from uw).  i’ll be studying in copenhagen for the 2007-2008 academic year, on the valle scholarship in the fall, and courtesy the scan|design fellowship in the winter and spring.  my focus is on participatory community design, though i am also interested in more general issues of urban design, historic/heritage preservation, and adaptive reuse.  i have had many excellent opportunities to study abroad during graduate school, including a summer in taiwan, a quarter in groningen, the netherlands, and a number of trips to china (working as a design intern in shanghai and participating in community design activities in quanzhou, fujian province).
